HERMA US Inc., the subsidiary of HERMA GmbH—a Germany-based provider of labeling machinery and self-adhesive labels and materials—has introduced the HERMA 500 Label Applicator, an IOT-enabled machine utilizing real-time metrics to optimize production efficiency and consistency, even in a multi-factory setting. Capable of achieving labeling speeds up to 200m/min, the HERMA 500 can handle label widths between 80-320mm and roll diameters from 300–600mm.

Since launching North American operations in 2016, HERMA  has enjoyed impressive sales of its signature HERMA 400 Label Applicator. HERMA sold more than 4,000 of the label applicators in 2018– half of which were provided to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The HERMA 500 is a next-generation label applicator that builds upon its predecessor’s best features and integrates Industry 4.0 connectivity.

The HERMA 500 has a maximum speed 70 ft/min. higher than the H400. A maximum speed of 650ft/min. can be reached. The module offers short make-ready time and offers industrial-grade Ethernet connection. Amongst the I/O options, remote access via web browsers provides allows for off-site operation and, on-site, the HERMA 500’s user interface displays intuitive pictograms on a 4.3” touchscreen, with simple access to format management and other user adjustable parameters.

A variety of optional upgrades can be accessed by simple code activation, and the unit’s firmware is automatically upgraded via ethernet. Both left- and right- hand models are available for seamless equipment integration.

“The fully connectivity-enabled HERMA 500 keeps pace with digitized factories as industry moves toward more comprehensive 4.0 integration,” says Peter Goff, CEO of HERMA US Inc. “Such innovative technology allows manufacturers to track performance and enhance synergy on product lines, all while ensuring optimized speed, connectivity and safety.”
