The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) announced the winners of its 70th Annual Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Competition, recognizing innovations in packaging excellence, technical advancement, and sustainability.
This year’s competition carries special significance as the FPA proudly celebrates the 70th anniversary of its flagship awards program—seven decades of honoring excellence, innovation, and leadership in flexible packaging.
The competition received 108 package submissions, representing 360 total entries across multiple categories, as many packages were entered in more than one category. In total, 28 packages earned 36 Achievement Awards.
Among the top honorees was PAXXUS, whose StreamOne Px recycle-ready lidding received three awards: Gold Award—Packaging Excellence, Gold Award—Technical Innovation, and Silver Award Sustainability.
The StreamOne Px lidding structure is designed as a mono-material PET solution, enabling recyclability within the existing PET stream. The material combines a print-receptive polyester film (PET) with Paxxus’ StreamOne peelable polyester sealant, coextruded to create a lidding structure compatible with PET-based thermoformed packaging.
When paired with an APET blister, the lidding enables a fully PET package structure that can be recycled where PET thermoforms are accepted.
In addition to recyclability benefits, the lidding incorporates a peelable, child-resistant opening, providing both product protection and consumer usability—an important consideration for applications such as pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and other regulated products.
