According to Freedonia, global demand for packaging machinery for food, beverages, pharmaceutical, hygiene and chemical products reached $33.4 billion in 2012, an increase of 4 percent over 2007. This figure is likely to top $40 billion in 2017, and exceed $50 billion by 2022.
The U.S. is likely to remain the largest packaging machinery market, in terms of demand, through 2017. However, growth in the U.S. will remain subdued in relation to emerging markets, particularly those located the Asia/Pacific region.
