QA1 now offers two more REV Series carbon fiber driveshafts that are certified to the SFI 43.1 specification—a 3.2 in. diameter with 1350 U-joints and a 2.25 in. diameter with 1310 U-joints. These driveshafts were subjected to various tests to determine that they meet SFI's 43.1 stringent standards for safety and performance.
Driveshafts with 1350 U-joints and certified to this specification are now offered in 3.2 in. diameter in addition to the previously available 3.7 in. diameter. This smaller size provides improved clearance for vehicles that need more room in the tunnel or for exhaust systems. In both diameters, these custom driveshafts are designed for vehicles with up to 2000 HP and up to 1500 lb*ft of torque.
To reach these specifications, these driveshafts were designed to optimize strength and performance. Because every vehicle is different based on driveline, power level and other upgrades, QA1 uses an in-house filament winding system to custom wind driveshaft tubes that are application-specific. As it winds, strength and surface protection are built right into the tube with a nanoparticle-infused 3M™ Matrix Resin, which was designed specifically for driveshafts in a racing environment and ensures ultimate torque capacity under the most extreme conditions. The in-house winding also allows QA1 to control the torsional stiffness in each driveshaft. As a result, these new driveshafts achieve more twist and smooth out torque spikes, resulting in increased traction during launch and shift points. Each driveshaft is torsion tested before leaving the facility to ensure the best performance.
