West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. has officially opened a significant expansion at its Damastown site in Dublin, Ireland. The new 165,000-square-foot facility is geared toward bolstering the company's contract manufacturing services, with a specific focus on meeting the skyrocketing global demand for high-volume injectable treatments for diabetes and obesity.
The expansion brings advanced automation and commercial-scale drug-handling capabilities to the Dublin campus, building upon the site's existing component molding, device assembly, and packaging operations.
This development is a strategic enhancement of West Vantage™, the company’s end-to-end contract services division that guides pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners from initial product conceptualization through to commercialization and regulatory support. By scaling up its infrastructure, West aims to streamline the supply chain for complex injectable drug delivery systems, particularly next-generation GLP-1 therapies.
"West is honored to continue supporting our customers in providing reliable, high-quality drug delivery solutions and security of supply," says Aileen Ruff-Patry, President of Contract Manufacturing at West. "This expansion increases our global capacity to support drug handling for high-volume injectable therapies, including next-generation GLP-1 treatments. This reinforces West's role as a critical partner in helping to secure patient access to these essential medicines."
The inauguration of the new building was attended by key company executives and regional officials, including West CEO Eric Green; Jack Chambers, Ireland's Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalization; and Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, highlighting the site's broader economic importance to the region.
Headquartered in Exton, Pennsylvania, West is a major global player in injectable drug administration. The company generated $3.07 billion in net sales in fiscal year 2025 and operates 26 manufacturing facilities worldwide, delivering billions of components and devices annually.
