Mars to Build New Global Research and Development Hub

The multi-million dollar investment will create Mars Wrigley’s largest innovation center in the world for snacks and treats, inspiring the next generation of new products to support the company’s iconic global snacks and treats brands.

Mars has announced the company is spending $40 million to build a new, best-in-class global research and development hub adjacent to the company’s existing Global Innovation Center on Goose Island in Chicago.

The investment will create approximately 30 additional jobs at the Mars Wrigley Global Innovation Center, which will bring the Mars campus total to nearly 1,000 jobs on Goose Island. Construction is set to begin this summer and expected be finished by summer of 2023.

With the expanded capability of the new facility, Chicago will become the largest innovation hub in the world for Mars Wrigley, adding to its network of global innovation centers. When complete, the innovation hub will inspire the next generation of new products to support the company’s iconic global snacks and treats brands, such as M&M’s, Snickers, Twix, and more.
